So this blog entry has been sitting in my draft folder for a while now. I was actually going to blog about what I had been up to recently but it never quite happened. This shot was of me camping on my grandfather’s property during the fall of last year. I was actually photographing the stars when i got this by accident. I never really slept much that night. I just kept thinking about my grandfather Ernest and his brother Hasty farming that land year after year while raising my mother and all her sisters. About two weeks ago I had a canvas printed of my grandfather’s tractor that I took several years ago as I was getting into photography. Just figured I’d share….

Julie had received the Bel Air for her 16th birthday from her dad. Wayne and his dad had spent the last 4 months remodeling the car getting it ready for the wedding. It was a nice addition to the already spectacular venue Cinqua Penn Plantation. I had to get my camera almost immediately so I could take a few shots of this special story. This blog post is dedicated to Julie’s father Mr. Bill Alexander!

I told Julie I would blog these images in the hotel on friday night since I wouldn’t have anything to do. When I got back I realized I didn’t bring my memory card reader. It’s not usually something I need on the road. I haven’t quite made it home yet since I stopped by my parent’s house on the way back. I figured I would include a few images from the wedding since I missed my deadline last night. That’s Julie’s brother driving her up and walking her down the isle. Happy Father’s Day!

Even more breathtaking was Kristin and her dress from Ulla-Maija. It’s definitely one of my favorite dresses. I’m not ashamed to say I’m big on the dress, the engagement ring, and the hair. I can’t put photography in the argument since my opinion is a little biased.

These guys will be getting married on a private plantation later this year so I’m pretty excited about that. I can’t wait for the cooler weather!

These guys were incredibly nice to me. Andy invited me to the rehearsal dinner so I got to meet everyone before the wedding. The wedding went smoothly as you can tell. Thanks to Joy at A Joyful Occasion for coordinating a great event.

Today is Andy’s birthday and everyone is out celebrating so I’m gonna go live with the post right now.

I love taking photos even while traveling. Check out my San Fran trip here for a little verification! I went to Vieques recently and took A LOT of gear as you will notice in the photo below. It’s pretty easy with thinktank’s great gear. So I was then ready to take some awesome vacation photos.

There was one minor(MAJOR) problem. I had just recently purchased the new iPhone 4. The main reason I upgraded it was the camera. Yep, I’m a sucker for technology.

Now the funny thing was I never touched my Canon gear the entire time I was gone. I decided to make a commitment and just use my iPhone the entire time. Iphone VERSUS $20k worth of Canon equipment? Check out the photos below from Vieques.

Vieques is a very small island and it also has wild horses about anywhere you go.

Lots of the locals also have horses and can be seen/heard riding through the towns. I took both the shots at sunset in Esperanza. Life is a little slower here. I felt like I was Ernest Hemingway in Key West in the 1930’s.

I jumped off that cliff a few times myself but it was recorded on Angie’s Canon so it can’t make this Iphone blog post. Just imagine me gracefully diving off of it, lol.

We also went sailing, with my parents, as well. That’s Mike Almond and his wife in the front. We met them on the sailboat. They were from Canada and had been vacationing for two weeks. I’m about to email him this blog post when it goes live!

A couple more shots of the sailboat. We actually went snorkeling too but since the Iphone isn’t waterproof it didn’t make the trip. The last time I was in Puerto Rico I drowned Angie’s $500 point and shoot(camera) during a snorkeling trip but it’s a small price to pay when you’re trying to get that shot of a lifetime right?!?

It’s hard to explain but this island reminds me of the Fox series “LOST”. It probably has something to do with an old military base being there a decade ago and also restricted areas on the island. Sounds like a great place for a good conspiracy theory to me.

This was flying in and my footprints in the sand.

Not only did I take photos with the Iphone but I also recorded video as well. I decided to put this little movie together of the clips I recorded using it along with the new One Republic song “Good Life” that I heard the other day. Hope you enjoy.

Thanks for checking out the blog. I’ve never shot a wedding in Vieques but I would love to. I’ve been to the island so many times I feel I would “Babe Ruth” it and knock it out of the park. I plan on using my pro gear when that happens though!

Carly wanted a few shots with her dog Winston.

Here was a big gem I found. I was riding around Savannah looking for cool spots for the shoot. I found this eclectic furniture store that was ROCKING! Carly and Caleb weren’t going to meet me until the evening. The place was closing in about an hour so I had to act quick. I got permission from the very nice people running 24e and called Carly up and told her I would pick her up in 15 minutes.

It was like 95 degrees outside….so this was a great way to start out and let it cool down.

Not only was the furniture and accessories amazing but the building was pretty incredible.

We also rode down to the beach on Tybee Island.

These guys have been together since middle school. I use to think I was gonna marry my middle school girlfriend one day.

This is the kinda photo that gets my inbox blown up with family beach requests.
